Junior High Band Syllabus Welcome to Band at CEC! I'm looking forward to this being an outstanding year for all of our bands. The policies for band are listed below: GRADING Grading is based on attendance, performance, conduct, attitude and preparation. Students are required to attend all scheduled concerts, contests and parades. This is a group effort, and skipping performances hurts the group and will not be tolerated. An unexcused absence will lower your grade by 20%. If a student must miss due to a family vacation, illness, religious obligation or other unavoidable conflicts, the director must receive a note from the parent at least one week prior to the concert in order for the concert to be excused. DISCIPLINE POLICY Students will receive one verbal warning for poor behavior in class. Further disruption will result in a trip to the office. Gum and food will get you a direct trip to the office with no warning. Continual disruption of rehearsal will result in a parental conference and possible removal from the program. MATERIALS All students need to come prepared with their instruments, a pencil, music folder and music. Students are responsible for maintaining their instruments in good condition. OTHER STUFF Being in band is a privilege. In every rehearsal, everything that you do or say should be for the betterment of the band. So..think before you act! FUNDRAISING We will sell suckers and do our annual Fannie Mae sale to raise funds for our various needs/trip. We also plan to have our spring pork chop dinner the night of the spring concert. UNIFORMS We will perform in uniform for every concert. Everybody must have black pants, black shoes and black socks, as well as their band shirt. If you need a new shirt, fill out the order form below, and hand it in. If you have questions or concerns about anything, please ask! Miss Tegg Band Director
