JAZZ INFORMATION FOR JAZZ I AND TOO

All alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, piano, vibraphone, bass guitar, drum-s (guitar must know all chords and audition for Mr. C) and possible vocalist are instruments in the jazz band setting. You must have good understanding and knowledge of those instruments. If you haven't played them before, you need to get lessons from a private teacher prior to entering the jazz program.

All students participating are required to show up for every rehearsal. It is so important they are at each rehearsal to participate. If they are not, we can't rehearse or they miss so much material. If the student is in student council, I will do my best to accommodate both jazz rehearsals and student council meetings.

PLEASE SCHEDULE DENTIST, DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS OR DENTENTIONS ON NON REHEARSAL DAYS. IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Both bands will be receiving shirts again this year. Both bands are required to wear Khaki pants and black shoes and socks. Please keep the shirts hung up when not using them. They will be issued soon and need to be turned in after our last performances prior to graduation.

Jazz I may have some rehearsals in the month of January and February on Friday evenings. Last year we had two rehearsals and pizza was provided. I will keep you posted if there is a need for those rehearsals.

We plan to travel with both bands again this year. If we could get some parents to drive equipment to these events, that would be awesome. Also, when Rolling Meadows trip rolls around and if we attend, we will need some chaperones; something to keep in mind.

If a student is in an event on the same day as a jazz festival, could I know a.s.a.p.. Also, could arrangements be made so the member can attend both events. This would be greatly appreciated.
If the students hear from me that jazz band has been cancelled, it will be. If they do not hear me say it, then rehearsal is on.

There will be an itinerary for every scheduled event we attend. I will try to provide maps as needed. If you do receive any information regarding an event, you can go to www.ivcband.com
We desperately need baritone and trombone players.

If we can not fill two bands, then we will have to go with one jazz band this year. Please encourage those members of the band to join so we can rehearse two full bands. I will post the band rosters on Friday of this week (8/25/06).
